Norman and Jasmine first met at Lowell high school in San Francisco where they shared a few classes together. Coincidentally, they both shared a Chinese class and were somehow grouped together as well. This class was nuts and the teacher forced everyone to perform embarrassing skits. Luckily for Norman, there was a beautiful girl in his group who was diligent in her work.
Despite using the most advanced forms of flirtation known to a teenage Norman at the time (borrowing pens, throwing paper balls, poking her, and making fun of her), he was nowhere on her radar. From this point they kept in touch sporadically, but it wasn't until college did, they reconnect.
Surprisingly this happened through a chance encounter when Norman lost his phone. The person that found it happened to call a few people, but Jasmine was the one that picked up. Norman couldn't believe his luck; someone found his cellphone and it's his crush from high school! Well, their conversations continued to grow and, well, the rest was history.
During college, Jasmine was at UCLA and Norman was at UCSD, so they traveled quite a bit back and forth to see each other. They even took a trip to Disneyworld in 2011 during Hurricane Irene. Young and naive, they risked their lives together hoping that the storm would veer off and other tourists would be too scared to go. It was fine and there were no lines at the theme park!
From that point on, they loved to travel together, try new foods, and daring new activities from Olympic park rope courses in Salt Lake, Utah to the Mesoamerican pyramids at Tenochtitlan.
The full story of the proposal will be presented at the wedding, so be sure to attend. However, long story short, after multiple attempts, Norman proposed to Jasmine at Zion National Park on May 20th. They completed a grueling set of hikes along the side of a canyon to the emerald pools with a few passing thunderstorms to top it off. Norman might have just strategically tired her out, but she said yes!
Thank you for reading a bit about us and we are excited to see you at the wedding in August!
